G2G Communities CIC We make people more employable by making learning more enjoyable G2G Communities CIC, in partnership with Penycae CP School and Reaching Wider Partnership initiative delivered a Digital Storytelling course using iPads.
The course was for two hours per week for four weeks and twenty parents/family members and their children took part. The course was funded under the Reaching Wider Partnership, supported by Aberystwyth University and delivered by G2G Communities CIC.
Moira Lockitt (Director) from G2G Communities CIC said ‘we were delighted to be asked to run this course’ ‘the School has made us very welcome and we have received positive feedback from everyone concerned’. ‘Most parents had never used an I pad but by the end of the eight hours they all had a digital story to present and are able to take these skills away with them to use at home’. ‘The children were very quick to pick up new skills and working together enjoyed passing these skills on to their parent/family member’. The Head of Penycae CP Mr Tim Newbould said ‘This has been a very positive experience for the School and we have received some excellent feedback from the parents/family member and children’. ‘It is extremely rewarding to see families working together and learning from each other’. ‘I should like to thank Reaching Wider and G2G Communities CIC for giving us the opportunity to take part in this initiative’. Celebration day Parents/family members, children and others will be attending a presentation day on Friday 14 June. Certificates and copies of the Digital Stories on DVD will be presented by Sarah Al-Asaf from Reaching Wider to everyone that attended the course. After the presentation a coach will take everyone to Llangollen for a boat trip. The event will be recorded by G2G Communities CIC and made into a Digital Story of the day.
