LEGO WeDo Delivered in French at Prestatyn High School

On Wednesday 21 May G2G Communities CIC in partnership with CILT Cymru and Prestatyn High School delivered the LEGO WeDo robotic kits in French as part of its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program.

In the UK there are over 40,000 vacancies in STEM related subjects each year and it is estimated that it will take 3 years to fill the current vacancies in the UK. Only 9% of women take up STEM related education/employment so there is a great need to increase the number of women taking up STEM related subjects.
Add to this a growing global market and the need for people to speak at least one other European language and the possibility of employment throughout Europe becomes a reality.

G2G Communities CIC is passionate about increasing the number of people taking up STEM related subjects and has been running a ‘Women into Engineering (STEM)’ project since July 2013. This program comes to an end in June 2014 and has been extremely successful in making STEM subject fun and exciting using LEGO WeDo, NXT and EV3 STEM kits.

We would like to thank our G2G Staff and Volunteers, CILT Cymru, Prestatyn High school and their pupils for taking part in this first pilot program. The feedback was excellent and both pupils and staff made suggestions regarding the session which we will incorporate when delivering future sessions.

Au Royaume-Uni il ya plus de 40 000 postes vacants dans les matières STEM liés chaque année et on estime qu’il faudra trois années pour combler les postes vacants au Royaume-Uni . Seulement 9% des femmes prennent des STEM liée à l’éducation / emploi si il ya un grand besoin d’augmenter le nombre de femmes prenant STEM des sujets connexes.
Ajoutez à cela un marché mondial en croissance et la nécessité pour les gens parlent au moins une autre langue européenne et la possibilité de l’emploi dans toute l’Europe devient une réalité .

G2G Communautés CIC est passionné par l’augmentation du nombre de personnes qui prendront disciplines STEM liées et a été exécuté un «Femmes en ingénierie ( STEM) « projet depuis Juillet 2013. Ce programme prend fin en Juin 2014 et a très bien réussi à faire STEM sujet amusant et excitant en utilisant LEGO WeDo , NXT et kits SOUCHES EV3 .

Nous tenons à remercier notre personnel G2G et bénévoles , CILT Cymru , Prestatyn Haute école et leurs élèves pour participer à ce premier programme pilote . Les réactions ont été excellentes et les deux élèves et le personnel a fait des suggestions concernant la session que nous prendrons en compte lors de la livraison des futures sessions .
