G2G Communities CIC

Hi Reader,

Welcome to our February (we made it just about) Newsletter. Here is a quick summary of what we have been up to, read on to find out what new and exciting things we have going on.

First of all we would like to welcome Ruairidh and Elis, who have joined us for work experience, they have some exciting things to share in the near future - meet all the G2G Communities team.

On Thursday, 25th February we had several local Schools visit us for small taster sessions for our All SySTEMs Go Space / STEM Project - watch out for our official launch day at our learning centre. You can register your school for us to come and visit.

Have a look to see what we have achieved during 2015 and what we have been up to - achievements 2015. Keep an eye out, as in 2016 we will be visiting a number of historical venues. We will also be supporting those furthest away from employment to gain qualifications, work ready skills and employment thanks to the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP).

Find us at Caernarfon Castle over Easter on Monday 28th, Thursday 31st March and Friday 1st April delivering LEGO / Minecraft & Stop Motion.

After a wonderful half term Minecraft Club we will be running events & workshops over the Easter holidays in our LEGO Education Innovation Studio Learning Centre in Rhyl - such as the Minecraft Club, LEGO NXT & WeDo Robotics. Keep an eye on our Facebook page, we will send you more information soon - we are just finalising sessions & dates.

New Skills, New Life with the DWP

We have been successful in gaining a Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) Flexible support grant to help those furthest away from employment to gain qualifications, work ready skills and employment. The programme will last until August 2016 and over 40 participants will undertake the programme. At the end of each programme each participant will develop a future action plan detailing their work based aspirations, career options, necessary qualifications and possible learning pathways.

Historical Venues with Howels Trust

During 2016 we will be delivering a number of half and one day sessions throughout North Wales where pupils will be able to recreate Welsh historic monuments, make animated videos of famous events and walk through Minecraft Edu reconstructions.

PQASSO Quality Kite Mark - Meet the Team

We're taking part in a pilot project being run by the WCVA to highlight the third sector quality kite mark PQASSO. During the next few months Directors and staff will be working through the quality statements toward taking the assessment before the end of 2016.

PQASSO covers all aspects of an organisation, from governance to service delivery and monitoring outcomes. PQASSO’s flexibility means it can be used by all types of third sector organisations, including charities, social enterprises, community interest companies and community groups. PQASSO offers a flexible approach to quality which allows an organisation to work at its own pace as it is self-assessed through the 12 quality areas. Organisations can also apply for the PQASSO Quality Mark, a nationally recognised award endorsed by the Charity Commission that offers users as well as commissioners and funder's external verification of the quality and credibility of an organisation.

Our locally employed staff love what they do, you will find them professional, friendly and highly experienced, meet the G2G Communities team - g2gcommunities.org/team.
