Supporting Urban Village Centre in Wrexham

We have been supporting the Plas Madoc Urban Village Centre in Wrexham by delivering a range of courses to people in the local community every Friday. There is a morning session 10am-12am followed by an afternoon session 1pm-3pm, helping people who are in need of assistance to improve their basic skills.

Learners are undertaking Food Hygiene & Basic Computer Courses and more advanced ECDL computer courses. Each of these courses offer a qualification on completion which can then be used to assist the learners in finding employment or to just help them feel more confident in today’s digital world.

Christchurch Coding with Scratch

A group of Year 6 Christchurch students completed their second session of Scratch programming this week, building on the basic skills they learned in their first lesson. Our goal was to begin creating a game where the player safely navigates a space rocket through treacherous caverns, using some of the more complex features of Scratch such as variables, sensing and messaging. The games will be finalised in our next session.

You can view some of the projects the students from Christchurch have previously created during their classes at scratch.mit.edu/studios/1530056
