Gwynt y Môr Community Fund

We are working with Gwynt y Môr to run a programme of activities to get people back into employment, full or part time education, training and giving them the skills for life-long learning. We will encourage individuals and community groups to continue after the project is completed. We are providing people with the skills to set up their own businesses (g2gcommunities.org/pop-up-people), helping to reduce unemployment and create future jobs as their business grows.

Gwynt y Môr is the world’s second largest operating offshore wind farm, off the North Wales coast. It is a £2bn partnership between RWE Innogy, Stadtwerke München GmbH, and Siemens.

Director Moira Lockitt said ‘We are extremely grateful to the Gwynt y Môr Community Fund for this grant. The twelve-month project only started on the 1st of September and will run until 31st August 2017’. ‘One aspect to the project is to set up NEW local businesses so if anyone has a business idea they would like to discuss with us we have some funding available that could help them’.

Contact us or call Moira on 01745 33 44 82 to discuss the project or see if you qualify.

Cloud 9 Huge Success, Expands into Denbighshire

We recently delivered a pilot project called 'Cloud 9' on behalf of Digital Communities Wales, Communities First Team in North Denbighshire in Rhyl with Christchurch CP School. Dr William Lockitt (G2G Director) produced the hands on curriculum and resources to support the programme. Feedback from both children and their parents/guardians was extremely positive. Any School or Community agency in North Wales interested in running this programme can contact us or call 01745 33 44 82.

We've Gone International (again), Grazie tante

We were pleased to welcome twenty two students from Vicenza, North East of Italy, for an afternoon of space programming and building. Students used our brand new WeDo 2.0 robotics kits to build and programme a range of vehicles they could both programme and control remotely. They then had time to work with the LEGO EV3 Robots to programme the sensors and motors to undertake a range of tasks.

A big thank you to Conlan School Ltd, an English language school in Abergele, for asking us to provide the activity. We wish you every success for the future. Photographs from the day are on our Facebook Page - facebook.com/G2GCommunitiesCIC

The Rosetta Mission is coming to an end on September 30th

On 12 November 2014, ESA's Rosetta mission soft-landed its Philae probe on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, the first time in history that such an extraordinary feat has been achieved. During the next phase of the mission, Rosetta will accompany the comet through perihelion (August 2015) until the nominal end of the mission. On its 10 year journey towards comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, the spacecraft has passed by two asteroids: 2867 Steins (in 2008) and 21 Lutetia (in 2010). The spacecraft entered deep-space hibernation mode in June 2011, and 'woke up' on 20 January 2014.

Find out all about the project on their website - http://sci.esa.int/rosetta
