Since starting in September 2010 it has been an extremely busy year for G2G Communities CIC, these are just some of the things we have been up to:
Given away £4500 worth of free courses and training (this will double by June 2012)
Contributed over 1200 volunteer hours to the local community (equivalent to £8400)
Been voted the best social enterprise of the year by residents of South West Rhyl Communities First
Received a BT Community Connections award for our work with the over 55’s
Run a successful BBC ‘first click’ programme for the over 55’s
Trained the majority of ILMs from the Oak Tree Child Care Centre
Created three full-time jobs and two part-time equivalent
Run three ‘Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Learning’ (PTLLS) programmes. G2G Communities CIC is committed to quality staff development and all full/part time staff and volunteers have the opportunity to achieve PTLLS
Have over 15 volunteers on our books, many of whom are unemployed. Three volunteers passed PTLLS in August 2011
Helped five people back into employment
Provided ICT training to the Children’s fun club to help them produce a web site and magazine
Provided ICT training to people with autism via C-Saw Denbigh
Been awarded four EU/WAG ‘Gateway’ contracts and all targets are being overachieved
Been awarded a Digital inclusion project and one of our learners (82 years old) has become the face of digital inclusion 2.0
Trained over 165 people
Become a British Computer Society Centre
Become a learndirect retail centre
Expanded into an additional unit leased from DCC at Marsh Road (Unit D2&D3)
Received funding WCVA communities trust fund award
Will be taking on at least one ILM
Will be taking on a Graduate from Glyndwr University
Worked in partnership with all local groups and agencies
